Beautiful and dreamy short film by director Anna Berlis about the young girl Daya who’s drawn into her own world of thoughts while attending her brother’s birthday party. The music played a central role in this film, drawing the audience into Daya’s world of thoughts.
Execution
We decided we needed a pulse, something that resembled a heartbeat, and a couple of vintage synthesizers -an 80’s Juno is at the centre of it-. We then added dreamy and heady keys and a ticking clock. We also wanted the track to build up slowly, so that it gradually fades into the foreground of the film.
Result
Mooier in het Donker premiered in 2020 and was received well. It’s available on many Dutch arthouse streaming platforms, including Cinetree.
